Ever since the end of the second war, Hogwarts has changed how it works. This change was called 'The Great Reform' and saw a vast amount of changes and new additions to the education system.
Probably the biggest change was the introduction of Department of Magical Education. Prior to it's inception, various departments would work outside of the main departments in the ministry, some weren't even ministry affiliated.
The Department of Magical Education is set up to monitor education at Hogwarts. Rather than the Umbridge days, both school and ministry get an equal say in how things are run.
In Hogwarts, the changes have mostly revolved around what subjects students teach. The list of subjects that have changed somewhat are as follows:
In the third year then, you would continue to take Astronomy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Potions and Transfiguration.
You would also have the choice to take two electives.
After your O.W.L's then you have a choice to take up to five subjects. All of the previously mentioned subjects but also:

- Divination- Divination is now an elective to take in the sixth year.
- History of Magic- Professor Binns has been removed from the position as History of Magic professor. It is said that you can still find him in his old classroom, talking to an empty room and not even realising it.
- Muggle Studies- Muggle Studies is now taught for first and second years. It is interlaced with Magical Studies where students learn how the magical world works. These two classes are compulsory for the first two years after which you can continue to take Muggle Studies if you wish.
In the third year then, you would continue to take Astronomy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Potions and Transfiguration.
You would also have the choice to take two electives.
- Ancient Runes
- Arithmancy
- Care of Magical Creatures
- Literature- Studying wizarding and muggle forms of literature.
- Muggle Studies- Much more like it is currently, just a continuation of the classes taken in first and second year.
After your O.W.L's then you have a choice to take up to five subjects. All of the previously mentioned subjects but also:
- Politics- For people who have an interest in entering the ministry. It would show how the magical and muggle governments of the world vary but would be focused on British MoM.
- Quidditch- For people considering a professional career as as Quidditch player.
- Divination- A condensed two year course about divination dealing with the theoretical side and the practical side.
- Healing- Foe people who want to become healers. Human Anatomy is taught here, as well as basic healing charms as well as visits to the Hospital wing for work experience.
